Rapala® Introduces the Shad Rap RS® New Stainless Steel Magnums®; Skitter Pop and Risto Rap sizes Added to Rapala Arsenal for 2000 MINNETONKA, Minn. (July 9, 1999) - Make room. The newest lure from Rapala® deserves a place in your tray of go-to lures. The Rapala Shad Rap RS® is a new, hardbait lure combining the best of the original Shad Rap, such as its unmatched wounded minnow swimming action, with the irresistible attraction of a suspended lure. If that's not enough to whet the appetites of finicky bass, walleye, salmon, trout or pike, the lure's internal rattle will turn an average day of fishing into a working day. Anglers have been asking us for years to develop a lure that can do it all, says Craig Weber, Normark vice president, director of product development. With the Shad Rap RS, anglers get it all - a deep-diving, suspending Shad Rap with superior castability, an internal rattle and the unique Rapala wobble. The new Rapala Shad Rap RS comes in seven new color patterns: Perch, Shad, Crawdad, Firetiger, Silver, Silver Blue and Silver Gold. The Shad Rap RS is such a versatile lure, it can be used for almost any situation, says Weber. The suspended action is great for early season bass or suspending walleye, and the internal rattle will attract finicky bass, trout and pike. Initially available in two sizes, No. 5 (2-in.; 3/16 oz.) and No. 7 (2-3/4-in.; 5/16th oz.), the Shad Rap RS dives up to 8 feet, suspending motionless at every depth. Soaring in Saltwater For years, Rapala lures have been the standard in saltwater. With more IGFA All-Tackle world records than any other lure in the world, Rapala saltwater lures have built a reputation for catching big fish. The pressure was on to create a new saltwater lure living up to the reputation of Rapala. The Rapala R&D department did just that with the new Stainless Steel Magnum ®. The stainless steel body of the new Magnum is a first for the saltwater lure market. The body of the lure will not corrode and the colors won't fade - even under the most rigorous of conditions - making the new Magnum the most durable lure in saltwater. The Stainless Steel Magnum comes in five new color patterns: Blue Mackerel, Green Mackerel, Clown, Black Redhead and Gold. In addition, Rapala is proud to introduce another first for the Saltwater Rattlin' Rapala and Husky Jerk with two new, exclusive saltwater color patterns - Pinfish and Croaker. The saltwater lures, both long-time freshwater favorites, combine their unique swimming actionwith perma-steel saltwater hooks. The Saltwater Rattlin' Rapala and Husky Jerk lures areideal for trolling, casting or jigging in saltwater. The natural action of a Rapala imitates a fleeing baitfish, says Larry Dahlberg, host of ESPN's Hunt for the Big Fish. The addition of Pinfish and Croaker patterns, two of the most popular baitfish species, are the perfect fit for the Rattlin' Rapala and Husky Jerk to attract snook, redfish and speckled trout. The line of saltwater Rapalas also includes Dorado, Purple Mackerel, Orange Pearl,Needlefish and Redhead patterns. The lures are available in sizes No. 7 (2-3/4 in., 1/2 oz.)and No. 8 (3-1/8 in., 3/4 oz.) for the Rattlin' Rapala and No. 12 (4-3/4 in., 1/3 oz.) and No. 14(5-1/2 in., 1/2 oz.) for the Husky Jerk. New Down Deep Husky Jerk® The original Husky Jerk® has been attracting bass and walleye since its introduction in1996. However, tournament anglers were looking to take it deeper - and the Down DeepHusky Jerk answers the call. Diving 10-20 feet, the Down Deep Husky Jerk can reachdepths other lures can't touch. Don't worry about water clarity in the deep, with nineattractive color patterns, bass and walleye will be clamoring to take the bait. Like the original Husky Jerk, the Down Deep Husky Jerk is ideal for trolling and casting. The new lure is available in the same patterns and sizes as the original Husky Jerk.
